Podium finishes for our swimmers
Well done to Lucas Perceval and Paige Franklin for winning some national medals at the New Zealand Age Group Swimming Championship held during the first week of the holidays.
Lucas completed in 7 events over the week, making the finals for the 16-Year-old boys 50m Backstroke and 100m Backstroke. He made the most of these finals by winning the silver for the NZ swimmers in both events.
Paige completed in 6 events making 4 finals for the 15-years-old girls. She won silver in the 100m breaststroke and bronze in both the 50m breaststroke and 200m breaststroke and finished 9th in the 100m Butterfly.
These are outstanding results for both swimmers who spent the last 4 months not being able to train in the Waipukurau pool while it was having renovations. Instead, they had to train in the Waipawa outdoor pool while it was warm, and then travelled, many times per week, to Flaxmere for lane space. This demonstrates a real commitment to excellence. Tino pai Lucas and Paige.
