Helping to save the life of well known broadcaster Danny Watson, was the last thing on Central Hawke's Bay Constable and Former Deputy Head Girl, Olivia Tilyard's mind while out for the evening with a friend in Auckland recently.
Olivia and two others performed lifesaving CPR for 15 minutes while waiting for the Ambulance to arrive.
Olivia says that having recently graduated from Police College and just done a first aid course, CPR was fresh in her mind, but she says it was more about being able to help.
“My advice is if you see something on the side of the road just pull over and ask if they need help because those at the scene will always say yes. For example, rotating doing CPR.”
Olivia says while she is not in a hurry to repeat the experience, it’s comforting to know that if she came across a similar incident, she would know what to do.
Olivia and Danny Watson were interviewed by Duncan Garner recently about the incident.
