NISS Swimming Championship

Congratulations to our eight students who went to Wellington this weekend to compete for Central Hawke’s Bay College at the North Island Secondary Schools Swimming Championship. There were over 300 competitors at this championship so was a great experience for them to compete against some of the best swimmers in the North Island. Our swimmers did themselves proud by gaining personal best times, several individual medals as well as two relay medals. Overall, in team points, CHBC was placed 14th out of 40
Co-Ed schools competing.

 

Notable top 10 individual results were:

Lucas Perceval (14-year-old boys) gained a silver in 100m breaststroke, bronze in 50m breaststroke and bronze in100m backstroke, then came 4th place in 100m Individual Medley, 4th place in 50m backstroke, 4th place in 50m butterfly and 6th place in 50m freestyle

Paige Franklin (14-year-old girls) came 5th place in 100m breaststroke, 7th place in 50m breaststroke and 8th place in 100m butterfly

Lucy Macklow (15-year-old girls) came 9th place in 50m breaststroke

Poppy Macklow (13-year-old girls) came 10th place in 50m breaststroke

 

Relay results:

Mixed 4x25m water polo relay of JD Mananes, Lucas Perceval, Paige Franklin and Caitlin Kirk gained the silver

Mixed 4x25m free kick relay of JD Mananes, Lucas Perceval, Paige Franklin and Ramona Lively-Masters gained the bronze

Girls 4x25m water polo relay of Lucy Macklow, Poppy Macklow, Ramona Lively-Masters and Abigail Boyd came 4th place

Girls 4x 25m free kick relay of Lucy Macklow, Poppy Macklow, Caitlin Kirk and Abigail Boyd came 6th place

Girls 15 & under 4x50m free relay of Paige Franklin, Caitlin Kirk, Lucy Macklow and Ramona Lively-Masters came 8th place

Girls 15 & under 4x50m medley relay of Caitlin Kirk, Poppy Macklow, Paige Franklin and Ramona Lively-Masters came 10th place

 

 

Well done swimmers on some great results and thank you to Grassroots Trust for the funding grant which allowed the team to travel and stay together over the weekend.
