Message from the Principal – 19 October 2023 Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa This week we held our annual Honours Assembly, which is one our most important celebrations at the College in that it acknowledges those that make our school so special. Honours Awards are given to acknowledge the service of staff, students and supporters of the school across a wide range of endeavours. These endeavours include cultural activities such as kapa haka, music and drama, leadership and sport, all of which add much to the enjoyment of being at College. It is important that we take the opportunity to honour not only students but also those adults who support the College to allow us to offer these opportunities. By acknowledging these outstanding contributions we are showing our appreciation for the passion and commitment so many people have for the College. We are indeed very fortunate to have this support for our students as they explore and develop their talents in areas of interest. The saying that it takes a village to raise a child is also very relevant, as we are often continuing the great work initially undertaken by the wider community. The list of achievements celebrated shows what talented students we have. From representing the Hawke’s Bay region to achievements on the national stage, our students have made the most of their talents. We hope that by acknowledging these achievements that we can encourage others to get more involved and make the most of their talents. By doing so, students will have to show perseverance and dedication, which are strengths that will stand them in good stead for their future endeavours. Congratulations to all our Honours Award winners, we thank you for your contributions to the College and acknowledge how you have demonstrated our school motto of Achieving With Honour. SCHOOL VALUES: ~ HIRANGA ~ EXCELLENCE ~ “He tangata ki tahi” - A man who speaks once. This whakataukī speaks of a person who is a man of his word, who says something and sticks to it.
